Supporting others as they act through faith

Keep on doing the things that you have learned and received and heard and seen in me, and the God of peace will be with you.  Philippians 4:9 (NRSV)

Dear Friends:

My years as a youth at Excelsior UMC were very formative. At the end of my senior year of high school, they culminated in a mission trip, serving alongside youth and adults who were so important to my formation.  When the opportunity arose six months later to apply to be on staff at Mt. TOP, I jumped at the chance. The church folks had formed me as a person of faith, ready to leap into being an adult working on a mission experience for the sake of God’s witness in the world.

That spring I raised the money needed for that trip by sharing my story with those very folks who had formed me in the faith. I knew they would want to be a part of extending their witness through me in this way.  I was right; people were generous beyond measure.

Friends, one whom you raised in the faith, sent on mission trips, and formed through spiritual growth and worship opportunities is about to have the same experience. Mackenzie Bosch, daughter of Sarah and Jeremy, will head to North Myrtle Beach, S.C. later this month to witness to her experience of God in Jesus. I have no idea what God is going to do through this experience for Mackenzie, or the young people to whom she will witness. I do know that lives will be forever changed by the blessing of Mackenzie's stepping out in faith and choosing to give of herself in this way.

She learned that from you, my friends. You are a people who step forward when there is a need, walk alongside people who need a friend, and give generously to spread the good news of Jesus through service and witness. She will now act through faith what she learned among us.

Mackenzie will share briefly about the mission experience she said “yes” to, and she will be asking you to partner with her through your prayers and gifts Sunday, May 8.  Mackenzie will need to raise almost $3,000 to pay her share of the cost of housing, materials, ministry expenses and some meals. Your generous support is vital for this one of our own in her pursuit of being the disciple of Jesus that you taught her to be.

You can give via the “give” tab at through May 15 and we hope that you will!  Whether you contribute financially or not, our hope is that you will keep Mackenzie in your prayers as she faithfully follows where God is calling her.
